CENORED is the 3rd licensed regional electricity distribution company to be established in Namibia, after NORED and Erongo RED in 2002 and 2004 respectively. CENORED license area covers the Otjozondjupa, part of Oshikoto and Omaheke and Kunene regions and has a customer base of approximately 34,000 customers in its main supply area (plus some 3,300 in the Omaheke Region and some 6,400 in Okahandja), ranging from large power
users to single-phase prepayment clients over an area of approximately 120 000 square kilometers and 8 000 kilometres line infrastructure. 201 dedicated men and women are employed by CENORED, as we strive to make a meaningful contribution to the socio-economic development of Namibia through the provision of reliable electricity services to our customers”.
CENORED’s shareholders are the Regional Councils of the Kunene, Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa Regions, the Local Authorities within its supply area, and NamPower. Shareholding is arrived at based on the depreciated replacement value of physical assets contributed to the RED, and kWh sold to end consumers in the respective shareholder’s area.

CENORED’s mission is rooted in its core mandate, which is to distribute and supply electricity within its designated area. It further embraces the need for flexibility in responding to customer expectations and being a catalyst for economic development in its area of supply.

CENORED’s vision expresses the focus on the newly competitive environment in which CENORED supplies its services, with a prime need to keep its product affordable to customers. The vision also embraces the expectation to increase access to electricity, which is a national development imperative in which CENORED has a role to play, as well as the affordability aspect which is critical to keeping customers satisfied. Finally, CENORED also recognises the social perspective of its business and the role it plays in social and economic development through the provision of a critical service in the economy.
